Hawke’s Bay Hospital Still under Pressure

Hawke-Bay-HospitalIt has been recently revealed that the Hawke’s Bay Hospital is still flooded with an overload of patients. This after there was a flood of people seen seeking emergency medical aid during the weekend.

It was further added that top cope up with the mounting pressure of work load, there are three elective surgeries going to be cancelled by the authorities. It was revealed by the Chief Operating Officer of the hospital, Chris McKenna, that there are more elective surgeries likely to be cancelled soon.

There is a need for more effective working to be done by the hospital staff so that they can deal with the current overflowing number of patients. They might need to opt off the work that can be done after a while, and attend to what’s more important for now.

It is essential that more people don’t come to the hospital unless they are in an absolute emergency, otherwise it might result in further chaos and crisis for the staff. The patients will also have to wait for long hours due to the same.

“Clinicians are coping with the pressure. However, it's very challenging and we have to use overflow beds to cope with demand on services. Unless it's an emergency anyone who presents at the emergency department can expect to wait for long”, said Mr. Kenna.

There is a need for helping the staff and other nearby hospital might want pipe in their support, by dealing with the patients which come after this, till the time the backlog is cleared.

It’s a matter of time to see the hospital overcome the crisis situation and after that things shall come back to normal soon.
