Exercise Can Prove Beneficial for Cancer Patients

Exercise Can Prove Beneficial for Cancer PatientsAs per a recent research that has been made available recently in the online edition of the British Medical Journal, it has been revealed that cancer patients who are done with their primary treatment for cancer can gain a world of health benefits by getting involved in physical activity, exercise, etc.

Various studies conducted earlier in this regard found that people suffering from cancer predict their retrieval to normal day-to-day activities following completion of their initial cancer treatments. However, such patients frequently find that they encounter issues like lower levels of physical activity, high levels of fatigue along with a reduction in the Quality of Life (QOL).

A variety of health aspects, counting the enhancement of QOL by the means of involvement in physical activities, have been highlighted by the studies.

The study, which was carried out by researchers from the University of Hong Kong, was focused on examining the outcome of 34 human assessments that were based on assessing how and how much can exercise effect adults suffering from cancer. Each trial included around 93 partakers who were suffering from issues like prostate, lung, breast, and gynecologic, colorectal or gastric cancer. The mean age of the partakers was 55 years.

The trials consisted of strength, aerobic training and resistance for an average period of 13 weeks. While expressing their opinion regarding the findings of the study, the researchers said that the, "Quality of life was a clear significant benefit of physical activity and that clinically, there were important positive effects on physical functions and quality of life".

The researchers concluded by saying that though the results are promising, further research is still need into the matter to explore different aspects of it, especially for patients suffering from different forms of cancer other than breast cancer.
