There have been perpetual debates all over the world about sex since time immemorial. Since the time there was the first ever AIDS case discovered the need for having safe sex, was stressed upon. There have been countless efforts made by medical authorities and teachers all over the world, to make people realize how essential it is to have safe sex.
In a recent study it has been revealed that people in their 50's aren't having safe sex. They are denying the need for using condoms or other safety measures to protect themselves from sexually transmitted diseases.
"A cross sectional study showed that more than 80 percent of 50 to 90 year olds are sexually active with cases of many common sexually transmitted infections more than doubling in this age group in the past 10 years", said Rachel von Simson, and Ranjababu Kulasegaram, the lead authors of the study from King's College London and St Thomas' Hospital London, respectively.
There are rising cases of gonorrhea, syphilis and Chlamydia seen in countries like Canada, UK and the USA. It is essential for people to realize the need for safe sex, before they get hold of these potentially dangerous and painful diseases.
While there is all the hue and cry and fuss made about how careless teens and young adults are, and how they aren't interested in safeguarding themselves against STDs, there is startling truth about the adults as well. There is need for the adults to lead by example. It is essential that people understand the impending risk of the STDs which can be tackled with the help of awareness programs to make people realize what sort of danger they are putting their lives in.
