Welsh Government to Ban Smoking In Car Carrying Kids

Welsh Government to Ban Smoking In Car Carrying KidsIt has been reported that Welsh Government is all geared up to ban smoking inside the car carrying kids. A campaign being organized by the Fresh Start is aiming at saving kids from the hazardous second hand smoke.

A ban has been called, over smoking in the confined area like in the car where kids are present. It is believed that the second hand smoke in a confined area is more life threatening as compared to second hand smoke in an open area.

However, there are some who believe that the ban would be too much. Simon Clark from the lobby group Forest is of the view that the ban is totally not required at present. While supporting the ban, Wales Dr. Tony Jewell, Chief Medical Officer for Wales said, "There is robust evidence that the level of toxic chemicals is very high in cars, even with a window open. The Fresh Start Wales campaign aims to make people aware that smoking in cars is dangerous for their passengers, particularly children".

The British Medical Association has also supported the idea of bringing a ban over smoking in the car with kids. It has been informed that if the level of smoke doesn't reduce, a ban over smoking in the car would be considered in the next five-year term of government.

Previous studies have showed that smoking causes life threatening diseases like cancer, heart diseases and stroke. Second hand smoke is as infectious and deadlier as the first hand smoke. Therefore, parents should be made aware about the ill practice of smoking in front of their kids.

The government from time to time has been placing strategies to deal with the growing menace of smoking. With the pursuit of preventing kids from falling in the trap of smoking, ban over the cigarette advertisements on the television was called by the government.
