Parents Concerned Over Children’s Safety With Regard to Internet

The use of internetinternet has increased amongst the young children and the same is concerning parents about their child’s safety, says a recent report. Parents today fear the safety of their children due to more use of internet, which contains everything in it, from knowledge, gaming and fun to restricted material and inappropriate content.

It has been revealed by the report that children are becoming more addicted to internet use and are concerning their parents, who fear that children are not safe as internet contains inappropriate content and they could probably see the same at some time. Also, they have failed to put sufficient online controls that could prevent their children from watching such things.

A poll was commissioned by the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre that enrolled around 80% of children of age five to 15 residing in UK, who were regular users of internet. It found that parents were failing to impose control on children’s internet usage as well as to apply any other measure.

The Chief Executive, Peter Davies, of the center told that children are making great use of new technology and are the real internet pioneers. But, their excessive use of internet could let them to make errors and could pose risk on them.

Also, the COEP center suggested a material to parents that is known to give practical advice to them about the tasks being performed by their children on internet, thereby helping parents to talk to them about online worlds.

"Protecting children is one of the Government's most important responsibilities and Ceop does a fantastic job safeguarding children, both on and offline. I welcome this helpful guide as another way of allowing us to create a safer online environment", said Lynne Featherstone, Home Office Minister.
