With the intent of making treatment of head lice in children a lot easier, the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Tuesday sanctioned a prescription-strength ointment for treating head lice in kids aged 6 months and above.
It seems like the decision will bring good times ahead for kids who frequently suffer from the strange and often painful issue of head lice and also for folks who have to combat it.
The matter of lice is not as minor as believed, at least not for kids who even have to miss out on school while they suffer lice and nits problems. As of now, there are a number of so-called oils available to kill lice but none of them is effective enough and so people often go for comb-through to get rid of the critters.
But not anymore, as a novel treatment for getting rid of lice can potentially snatch a bite off the business of louse-busters.
Earlier on Tuesday, the FDA sanctioned a new ointment dubbed “Sklice” which is meant for curing head lice in children over 6 months of age. Sanofi-Pasteur U. S., the maker of Sklice, claimed in a recently released statement that the ointment may well help in treating lice in the majority of patients after just a single dose, and no nit-combing will be needed after that. In clinical tests, the majority of people having lice were treated by using Sklice, but they were not given nit-combing. As per the researchers, the majority of them were louse-free just after two weeks.
The active ingredient of the product, dubbed Ivermectin, is basically an antiparasitic mediator which is highly helpful in killing the lice. In addition, one of the major advantages of the ingredient is that it is not at all harmful for mammals.
