Coroner Instructs Family to Stay Mum before Doctor Reveals Evidence

Rockhampton HospitalIn a revelation, it has been made clear to the family of a gall bladder patient that they must not made the documents related to the running inquiry over the death of 69 years old Judith McNaught. The patient is told to have died after surgery in the Rockhampton hospital in June 2010.

The family feels that it was slew of errors from the doctors there which triggered the death. Coroner Annette Hennessey has told the family that they must not disclose any information related with the case in media else it would be termed as contempt of court.

The main doctor, Melanie Nicholson, is yet to produce his defense in the court. It was only after the patient’s family received a copy of statement written by the same doctor, they approached the court to make it public.

However, they have been told to keep mum and let the doctor produce his evidence first in the court. The inquest has heard Dr. Suraji Sooriyaarachchi, saying that the patient was quite ill after the first operation. Even the nurses were of the view that Mrs. McNaught cannot be put through a CT scan.

At that time, the patient was told to be experiencing low blood pressure and was having severe abdominal pain. It was only after being administered with a saline drip, and pain relief that the patient could feel a bit better.

The registered nurse Mariano Dulnuan was of the view that the patient was only transferred from the ward once she was stable, however, Mr. Dulnuan said that the readings from the patient’s chart showed that she was not stable.

There is yet more to be known about what all happened there at that time to find the root cause of death. There are fair chances that the carelessness from the part of the staff had push the lady to death.
