After undergoing a heart surgery on Thursday morning, former American President Bill Clinton today morning left the New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia.
"President Bill Clinton was released from in excellent health. He looks forward in the days ahead to getting back to the work of his foundation, and to Haiti relief and recovery efforts", said Mr. Clinton's spokesman Douglas Band.
The ex-President's cardiologist, Dr. Allan Schwartz shared that Mr. Clinton has been experiencing "episodes of brief discomfort" in his chest for the past few days, which led him to calling for an appointment. It was during the check-up that a blockage was discovered.
"He saw his doctor, they did a procedure called an angiogram where they inject some dye into a vein, and they saw that there was a blockage in one of the arteries. He had two of those (stents) put in, so there must have been two areas of blockage in that artery. Those will stay in there for the rest of his life", explained ABC News Senior Health and Medical Editor Dr. Richard Besser.
The latest surgery has come some 6 years after Mr. Clinton underwent a quadruple bypass surgery.
