Circulation Set to be Boosted by WAN-Skywest Deal

West-AustralianAs has been announced by West Australian Newspapers Holdings Ltd., a deal which the group has recently managed to strike with Skywest Airlines Ltd., in order to expand the reach of its flagship masthead to North-West WA, might end up adding thousands to circulation.

"It's the first time it's happened, but we figure that if you get the paper there early, you can sell more copies. I would hope for a few thousand at least", said WAN Chief Executive Chris Wharton, while stressing that the deal would now make sure that copies of The West Australian would be on sale at the start of the day, rather than hitting the stands by the time the afternoon rolls in, as is the current case.

It has been confirmed that Skywest would start the delivery of the Saturday edition by the end of March, and will gradually increase the freight service to cover the entire week.

"It won't add any cost, it will be at a better cost than we are currently running at for transport there", Mr. Wharton said.
