Los Angeles went after 21 medical marijuana dispensaries and arrested one owner on Thursday. The authorities filed lawsuits against three dispensaries and sent eviction orders to business and property owners involving 18 others outlets.
Six or seven dispensaries are owned by Grant, that includes two Holistic Caregiver locations in South Los Angeles and are the subject of the Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit.
“State law allows only for the sail of "collective cultivation" marijuana, meaning people can grow pot together, but it can't be sold for profit”, said Asha Greenberg, Assistant City Attorney.
Grant's home was explored; he and his wife were arrested and accused in May 2008. Grant pleaded guilty. He is scheduled to be sentenced on March 22.
Grant was allegedly under the influence of marijuana. One more lawsuit is against a man who allegedly ran a facility in Culver City.
