According to a recent study, women who have low sexual desire and associated distress are bound to suffer from personal and emotional distress related to the sexual issue.
The results were concluded after surveying 5,098 women who had low sexual desire and associated distress. These women were questioned about their behavior related to low desire and attitude pattern.
A majority of women stated that they suffered from dissatisfaction with their sex life, guilt about sexual difficulties and distress about their sex life in the study DESIRE (Desire and its Effects on female Sexuality Including Relationships).
About 7,542 women who had low sexual desire and associated distress were identified. Their frequency of sexual desire in the past one year was correlated to the amount of distress about their low sexual desire and other negative emotions.
According to researchers, one treatment is not enough to make things better. Other options like counseling along with treatment such as sex therapy may be needed women face reduced sexual desire due to both physical as well as psychological factors.
