Google Gets Nod from China to Buy Motorola Mobility

Google Gets Nod from China to Buy Motorola MobilityThe final hurdle in front of Google to complete its acquisition of Motorola mobility has been overcome after China Okay the buyout. This has cleared the way for the $12.5 billion deal to close early next week. But the Chinese authorities have cited a big condition in front of Google stating that its Android operating System for mobile devices should remain open source for the next five years.

This is the biggest acquisition from the search giant and with the last barrier being overcome by the company , it bring it more closer to expand into manufacturing phones, tablet computers and other consumer devices for the first time. Moreover, it also allows Google access to more than 17,000 Motorola patents. This would help the company in the crucial patent wars against Apple, Microsoft and others. There are more than 250 million android phones worldwide, which are made by many manufacturers including Motorola Mobility.

The deal was announced in August last year and the company had received the necessary approvals from all regulators except China. This was a huge hurdle for the company as it had strained the relations with Chinese government after it moved its search engine out of the country over censorship and computer security.
