Most of the Kiwis are feeling financially shaken by the global financial crisis. Many New Zealanders are financially stressed.
Though many people are optimistic, yet 60% are under financial stress, according to the survey by Financial Services Institute of Australasia. Even then, the people of the country don't plan to change the way they spend or invest.
"The sudden collapse of finance companies, the significant loss incurred by investors and the notable rise in unemployment has left many New Zealanders grappling with spiralling levels of household debt, inadequate savings and the prospect of an uncertain environment", said Dr. Martin Fahy, Chief Executive of Financial Service Institute of Australasia.
Two-thirds of female respondents and 55% of male respondents to the survey feel financially stressed.
Only 8% of them feel themselves as better off since the financial crisis with lower taxes and interest rates, and 41% are in the same position.
