Police officials have shared that they strongly believe that more women might have been sexually active with the HIV-positive man sentenced to prison time for intentionally infecting his partner with the condition.
35 year old Artwell Chakanyuka was slapped with a jail time of a total of 8 years and 4 months when he made a court appearance on 3 February at the Auckland High Court.
As has been shared by Detective Simon Jeffries, since the conviction, the police have been determined that the man has been sexually involved with other women across the Auckland area over the past few years.
Detective Jeffries has now urged that anyone who has not been in contact with the police or health services with regards to having slept with Chakanyuka, and has concerns, should get in touch with a doctor or heath provider as soon as possible.
