IVF treatments might be used worldwide but for reasons unknown researchers have stated that women who conceive with IVF have four times more chances to have a stillborn baby as compared to those who conceive naturally.
Tots have higher risks of dying in the womb who are made to form using ICSI technique in which sperm is injected straight into the egg.
Researchers in Aarhus, Denmark, state that the reasons are not clear but they fear the treatment itself may cause the tots to die.
Study chief Dr Kirsten Wisborg said, "We found a four-fold increased risk of stillbirth in women after IVF/ ICSI compared with those who were fertile."
British Fertility Society, however has informed couples that they should not panic. Secretary Alison McTavish said, "The majority of people who have IFV give birth to healthy babies."
Wisborg stated, "The results from our study emphasize the need for continuous follow-up of the outcome of fertility treatments so that the information given to infertile couples seeking treatment can be differentiated to their individual circumstances."
