Activision dismisses two top Infinity Ward executives for “breaches of contract”

Modern-Warfare2In a recent report filed to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) by Activision, two “senior employees” of its ‘Modern Warfare 2’ studio – the 2003-acquired Infinity Ward - have been dismissed for “breaches of contract.”

In its SEC filing, Activision said: “The Company is concluding an internal human resources inquiry into breaches of contract and insubordination by two senior employees at Infinity Ward. This matter is expected to involve the departure of key personnel and litigation. At present, the Company does not expect this matter to have a material impact on the Company.”

Though the filing does include a mention of the employees who have been dismissed, the timing of the filing coincides with the sudden, simultaneous departure of two top Infinity Ward executives – its president, game director, co-CCO, and CTO Jason West; and its CEO Vince Zampella.

According to a yet-confirmed G4 report, an unnamed ‘inside’ source has revealed that the dismissal of the two Infinity Ward executives comes after several weeks of “tense” interaction between Activision and Infinity Ward.

Meanwhile, somewhat confirming the report, an unverified screenshot of his Jason West’s Facebook page – supposedly sent to the Kotaku gaming blog – lists the veteran developer’s status as: “Jason West is drinking. Also, no longer employed.”

Furthermore, Vince Zampella has also recently updated his LinkedIn page to indicate that he no longer works at Infinity Ward.
