Products recalled due to possible salmonella contamination

CanadaFollowing salmonella contamination in food products, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency has warned people to stay away from consuming some pretzel products.

Hydrolysed vegetable protein manufactured by Basic Food Flavors, Inc., Las Vegas, Nevada, is contained by the foods. The call for recalling food products was initiated by Basic Food Flavors due to salmonella contamination.

Foods that are affected by this alert are H. K. Anderson, Pretzel Bites, 9 oz. Honey Mustard. UPC code 070271 00130 3, President's Choice, Honey Mustard flavour, 300 g, Pretzel Nuggets. UPC code 0 60383 99222 4.

The distribution of these products might have been taken place across Canada.

No illness due to these products has been reported till now.

The recall of hydrolyzed vegetable protein in the U. S., an ingredient found in thousands of processed foods that includes dips and dressings, dried soups, is expected to expand.

Tim O’Connor, a spokesperson with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency said, “We don’t want to prejudge the investigation. We’ll see what it bears out. And if any products are identified which pose a risk to consumers, a recall notice will be issued.”
