More details surface about Valve’s Portal 2

Portal 2With the latest Game Informer Magazine issue recently disclosing some of the first details of Valve’s forthcoming Portal 2, the buzz about the Portal sequel has already gathered momentum online – with some more information apparently being pulled from the Game Informer story!

Game Informer had already revealed that Portal 2, scheduled to hit the markets in fall this year, will be released not only on the PC and Microsoft Xbox 360; but also on the Mac; thereby hinting that Valve’s Portal 2 support for Macs might bring more games to the new platform.

According to new details that have surfaced about Portal 2, the game will reportedly take place hundreds of years after the original Portal, resulting in the Aperture Science labs appear somewhat like “a jungle.”

However, in spite of the big time leap, the Portal sequel will still somehow feature the first game’s key star, Chell, who will be the playable character in the single-player version of the new game. In addition, GlaDOS will also return, with the personality cores that the gamers apparently obliterated at the end of the first game.

Meanwhile, Portal 2’s co-op campaign will be a stand-alone story, likely starring two bi-pedal robots. In terms of gameplay, physics will play a larger part in the puzzles; which will also boast “reflection cubes” for their laser-redirection.

On the whole, while Valve has called Portal 1 a “test bed,” the sequel will comparatively be a bigger, “full-fledged” game.
