A warning has been issued by the BC Centre for Disease Control concerning a certain type of Camembert cheese following reports that it is tainted with listeria.
Moonstruck Organic Cheese located on Saltspring Island manufactures the Camembert.
On March 2, it was discovered by health officials that listeria monocytogenes bacteria was present in one wheel of cheese. Other batches of the product might have been affected.
White Moon, Savory Moon, and Ash-Ripened are the three Camembert varieties that are possible contaminated.
Anyone who may have purchased the cheese can go for a refund or simply do away with it.
No cases of illness were however reported. Further testing is needed to identify the source of the contamination.
