A trip to WA was made by Federal Treasurer Wayne Swan and his intentions were to meet Premier Colin Barnett and Treasurer Troy Buswell for discussing struggling attempts that Canberra was making to repair the way the nation's hospitals are funded.
Swan came to WA overnight for the talks and will get back to Canberra after meeting deputy opposition leader Roger Cook.
The meeting at the Premier's office this morning was held for 50-minutes and Swan after attending it said that a good discussion about the Commonwealth's health plan took place.
After moving to 60 per cent Federal funding, Swan said that they shared common views on leaving the control of the system in local hands.
He added, "I think the Prime Minister's made it very clear that we want a national system that is locally controlled. We certainly share that objective.” He further informed that Henry Tax Review compiled by Treasury Secretary Ken Henry would be released by the Rudd Government in plenty of time for a full public discussion but could not inform when that would be.
