According to a recent study, people who were healthy have two times more chances of enjoying sex in middle and older age. Healthy people also reported a more satisfying and a busy sex life.
According to researchers, sexual activity has often being linked with health benefits and long life. This study has been the first of its kind that sex life was affected by general health as people grew older.
About 6,000 men and women in midlife and later life gave information, and it was estimated that for men at age 55, the average sexually active life expectancy is 15 years and for women it was10.6 years.
Researcher Stacy Tessler Lindau, associate professor at the University of Chicago, said, "Although the period is longer for men, they lose more years of sexually active life as a result of poor health than women."
Although men generally have shorter life spans but they have greater sexual life expectancy.
