The Saskatchewan’s privacy commissioner regarding an Ontario-based company, which states that it is offering to store patient files, is warning Province’s doctors.
Gary Dickson said, “I am concerned about information DOCUdavit Services Inc. outlines in promotional literature to physicians who may be retiring. DOCUdavit says on its website that it provides safe, secure facilities for clients' valuable and confidential information.”
The service not appearing to follow provincial health privacy laws poses problems, said Dickson.
Details about the problems have been shared with Saskatchewan Health, the Saskatchewan Medical Association and the college of physicians by Dickson.
The warning followed after Regina, a woman, last month stated that for getting her family’s medical records she's being told to pay $150. she was told that the records were transferred to the Ontario company for storage after her doctor retired.
Anyone who has received such a call is being urged to meet their doctor.
