Seven Hills West Public School to Be Investigated for Caging Autistic Children

Seven Hills West Public School to Be Investigated for Caging Autistic ChildrenNew South Wales Opposition wants Seven Hills West Public School to be investigated for human rights violation, as the autistic students are kept in a fenced area during lunch time.

Parents are annoyed with the school authorities, as the children with special needs are kept inside a boundary, which is fenced and has one tree, a bench and a very filthy floor.

NSW Department of Education differs on this, as it says that the arrangement is used for new students with disabilities. There are about 52 students in the school with special needs.

The Department of Education also added that the enclosure was set only after the parents raised safety issues. They shared that since the school is located at a very busy road and without creating a fence the students may leave the school premises and get injured due to the running traffic of the road.

When the school is convinced that a particular student will listen to the staff members' directions and will be able to understand the playground boundaries, he or she may use the playground.
