Federal Health Reforms Demand Rudd’s Hard Work

Federal Health Reforms Demand Rudd’s Hard WorkIn an attempt of convince the state officials in accepting the health reforms, Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has been meeting them one by one.

His latest meeting was with Victorian Premier John Brumby in Melbourne.

He met the Queensland Premier Anna Bligh in Brisbane on Saturday after meeting NSW leader Kristina Keneally in Sydney.

Mr. Rudd said that the three meetings have concluded on a positive note and he plans to meet the other state premiers and Chief Ministers from the ACT and the Northern Region ahead of April's full-body meeting.

“It would be wrong for me to say that everything with all the states has been resolved overnight - of course that's not the case", he said.

Australian Greens leader and Senator Bob Brown said that he intends to have a meeting with Mr. Rudd. He said that the Greens are expecting the new reforms not to affect the regional health services.

The Government has been looking forward to provide 60% of the hospitals with funds. Out of that, 30% funding is expected to come from GST revenues.

Mr. Rudd’s ideas have been widely criticized by the opposition. They accuse him of introducing the reforms for failure of the states.
