IMAX film “Hubble 3D” takes viewers on scientifically-realistic flight through time and space

Hubble-3DThe new 3D IMAX film – “Hubble 3D” - which was which premiered during the weekend at the South By Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival in Austin, Texas, is an inimitable large-format presentation, taking the viewers on a scientifically-realistic flight through time and space.

Centered on NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope, the first space-based observatory in the Earth’s 350-mile trajectory, boasts a horde of picturesque images magnified wonderfully on the gigantic IMAX screen. The film virtually transports the viewers to almost the edge of the known universe, offering the ultimate, detailed glimpse of the Hubble telescope.

The IMAX film with unfolds the Space Shuttle Atlantis’ mission to the Hubble – Mission STS-125, which was accomplished in May last year by a six-member crew – marked the upgrade of the 19-year-old telescope. For the mission, the astronauts undertook the requisite ‘space walks’ for carrying out the replacement of large components and tiny circuit boards of the Hubble.

With IMAX and the space program literally going hand-in-hand, IMAX hitched a ride with the astronauts, who practically acted as the camera operators to bring out the breathtaking views of the heavens.

A Warner Bros. film, which is written, produced and directed by Toni Myers, and narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio, the 43-minute-long “Hubble 3D” provides all the details of the astronauts’ awesome job; before finally unveiling the Hubble’s new Wide Field Camera and infrared eye that can capture stars, gas and dust 2.5 million light years out!
