Smokers to Follow New Rules as Announced by FDA

FDAConsidering the high amount of consumption of Cigarettes amongst teenagers and children, the FDA has publicized new rules, in order to limit tobacco consumption amongst them. The new rules are going to make it harder for tobacco companies to sell their products to the most vulnerable section of the society which comprises of teens and kids.

The new necessities, part of the 2009 Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act as signed by President Obama last June, hamper some types of sales and promotion of tobacco products to make them less accessible and eye-catching to kids.

This decision is a serious piece of a harmonized effort to save lives, lower costs, and reduce suffering from heart disease, cancer, and other tobacco-related complexities.

In spite of earlier bans, tobacco companies have still found ways to reach kids. In fact, according to the FDA, every day more than 4000 kids under 18 try their first cigarette, and more than 1000 become daily smokers. And investigation has shown that 90% of adult smokers started smoking earlier than the age of 18. This reveals many of the kids who start smoking at such a sensitive age tend to become future smoke addicts.

The American Cancer Society's support associate, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, worked determinedly in support of the bill.
