Volunteers recognized at Seniors Week Awards

Seniors-Week-AwardsMinister for Ageing Paul Lynch recognized New South Wales seniors at an awards ceremony in Sydney today. Tributes were paid to those who dedicated themselves towards making things better.

Some were named winners in the annual NSW Seniors Week Awards People from the Illawarra and New South Wales south coast.

These are Jean Barret of Bellambi for working with the cancer patient support group. Cordeaux Heights man John Bilboe received an award for medical work in the Philippines and disability care in the same category. Pia Nyboer from Manyana was also awarded for volunteer work with the Combined Pensioners and Superannuants Association. Gai Ta of Fairy Meadon for coordinating the Illawarra-based Indochinese Aged Group got a health and well-being award.

Lynch said, “The award winners enriched their communities by dedicating their time, skills, energy and enthusiasm to so many essential services and activities. They give their time unselfishly to help their local communities and improve the quality of life of many tens of thousands of people around the State.”
