At the CTIA Wireless conference in Las Vegas on March 23, Samsung unveiled its hot new Google Android 2.1 smartphone - the Samsung i9000 Galaxy S, which features an eye-catching WVGA resolution display and a 1GHz processor.
The 118g, 9.9mm-thick Samsung Galaxy S not only has a great appearance but also feels better in hand - thanks to its smooth plastic back cover material that is similar to Samsung's other high-end phones of late, like the Jet.
Describing the Galaxy S as a multimedia handset that can deliver movies and ebooks, Samsung revealed at its Las Vegas Convention Center presentation that the smartphone's Super AMOLED lends 20 percent more brightness to the 4-inch screen of the device, as well as 20 percent more battery life.
Flashing images of the Galaxy S on a massive screen, the executives at Samsung - which is teaming up with several companies including Paramount Pictures and Skiff to deliver content for Galaxy S - elaborated the capabilities of the slim touch-screen device.
Along with highlighting the social networking ability for Galaxy S, the executives said that the device features a 5 megapixel camera that can record 720p HD video; the Swype virtual keyboard for text input; 3.5mm headphone jack; a micro-USB port; and Think Free, which is pre-loaded for viewing and editing Microsoft Office compatible files.
