The long Easter weekend has Motor Accident Commission concerned as motoring bodies say long distance driving is probably the biggest danger to holiday-makers this weekend. In an attempt to beat the rush, many people will begin their weekends early and hit the roads but this has the commission worried.
According to chief executive Andrew Daniels one of the most dangerous periods of the weekend would be this afternoon.
He said, "There is actually a spike in car crashes on South Australian roads between 2:00pm and 4:00pm on the Thursday before Easter."
According to Mathew Hanton, from the Royal Automobile Association, fatigue has the same effect while driving as drink driving has.
According to police drink and drug driving this weekend would be targetted.
