In Melbourne's eastern suburbs, a man in his 70s collapsed into his wife's arms following repeatedly stung by wasps.
After disturbing the nest in the garden of his Watsonia home this morning, wasps stung the old man five times around the head, face, neck and chest. Alan Eade, intensive care paramedic said, "The man became dizzy and collapsed into his wife's arms in the bathroom. He had a rash over most of his body." To reduce the severity of the allergic reaction he was administered a shot of adrenaline and steroids.
About 10 people have been treated for wasp stings including this morning's attack, in Melbourne's outer east since March 1.
Paul Bentley, Ambulance Victoria spokesman, has warned people to be attentive near venomous insects.
