Twitter unveils its new user-friendly home page

TwitterAdding yet another tweak, the Twitter social media network officially unveiled its revamped and more user-friendly home page, with the key objective of attracting new users and retaining old ones.

The noticeable array of dynamic content that Twitter’s home page is now replete with includes – a slow scrolling list of randomly selected, user-sent “Top Tweets” which keep changing continually; a rolling marquee close to the top of the page, displaying a feed of the most current topics; and revealing of the newest tweet on any one topic by hovering over that subject.

The redesigned home page, which apparently helps new users understand what the site is all about, also features a “See who's here” window, which displays thumbnail photos that connect users to tweets from popular tweeters, including favorite celebrities and top businesses.

Furthermore, in an attempt to encourage the newbies to sign up for the social network, the home page now features a “New to Twitter” promo on the right, highlighting the advantages of the service and alluring people to “join the conversation.”

According to the Twitter official blog, the redesigned home page not only shows more tweets-related information upfront, but also particularly encourages new sign ups, by conveying increasingly better value of the service – highlighting that rather than being the site for quick updates, Twitter is a fast-paced way of grabbing and sharing information!
