Bee stings treat MS

bee-therapyA 45-year-old Sami Chugg, could not move few years after she was diagnosed with MS in 1998.

She was permanently bed-ridden as the incurable disease stops the body's nerve cells communicating.

But Sami’s life was changed after BVT, Bee Venom Therapy, and now she is back on her feet after trying the treatment.

A bee is held in a pair of tweezers and there is deliberate stinging on an area of skin on the patient's body.

According to experts, the pain of MS symptoms is treated by the venom in the sting and stimulates the body to fight back.

Sami said in a treatment spanned for 18 months she was stung around 1,500 times and as a result she has got her mobility back.

She said, ''When I started the BVT, I couldn't get out of bed or get out of my room - it was really grim. Most people would be terrified by the prospect of being stung by a bee. But when you have a condition like MS, that involves the numbing of the body, any kind of sensation is welcome - even if it's from a bee sting.”

A session is started with two, then four, then six and it is increased to 10 to 14 on an average for each session.

Researchers suggest that inflammation and pain is decreased by certain compounds in bee venom and body is made to release natural healing compounds by a combination of all its ingredients.
