If you want your child not to be overweight later in life then you better start taking light exercises during pregnancy. New Zealand and US researchers have stated that light exercise during pregnancy may improve child’s by controlling weight in the womb.
Mums who are obese have more chances of giving birth to larger babies that would put them at a risk of health problems in future.
Regular light exercise for pregnant women is recommended by UK guidelines.
The number of overweight mothers has leapt over the years, as there has been a rise in weight of the UK population.
Evidence has been established that environment in the womb influences a child’s metabolism later in life.
Doctors have also advised women not to indulge in overeating during pregnancy and wherever possible, take light exercise on a regular basis.
The joint study between the University of Auckland and Northern Arizona University has stated that women who exercise during pregnancy had babies who were lighter on average. The study also stated that the regime did not inhibit growth in the womb, but it helped in reducing the extra fat laid down by the babies.
