A new study has put light on the risks related to getting a cosmetic surgery done without informing family and friends.
A wide-ranging review of information has been conducted by Australian National University health sociologist Rhian Parker about procedures such as breast implants, nose jobs, and face lifts.
About 32 people who had undergone cosmetic surgeries and about 19 doctors were interviewed by Dr Parker.
According to Dr Parker little information about the procedures are there with patients who undergo these surgeries despite a rapid rise in cosmetic surgery.
She added, "Part of it is because many women go into cosmetic surgery in a secret way. They might have looked at the web or other sources, but there isn't any comprehensive information out there which shows exactly what all of the risks of cosmetic procedures are."
According to her, this is a concern that needs urgent attention. In addition, those who want to undergo a cosmetic surgery must speak to atleast three specialists.
