Martina Navratilova, a winner of a record nine Wimbledon singles titles and the greatest female athlete of all time, disclosed that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Navratilova had introduced muscles for women in tennis and she had always attempted to remain in good shape.
Navratilova, 53, said, "The biggest shock was the loss of control. I'm an athlete, and I've taken great care of my body over the years, I've kept myself in good shape, but this made me realize that you don't have control over your body and your life. Some things are uncontrollable, and that's shocking.”
The doctor told her in February about the breast cancer after a mammogram revealed that she had cancerous cells in her left breast. She said that all those victories on Wimbledon's Centre Court faded into the background.
The prospects are god as she caught it early. Last month she had a lumpectomy and will start a six-week course of radiation therapy soon.
