Apple iPhone OS 4.0 will likely pose no threat to Google Android OS

Apple iPhone OS 4.0 will likely pose no threat to Google Android OSThe Thursday unveiling of the new iPhone OS 4.0 by Apple is being considered a welcome move by the users of the popular iPhone; particularly because the next-generation operating system will give them the capability of like multitasking, setting personalized wallpapers, and placing folders on their home screens.

However, despite the fact that the Apple CEO Steve Jobs described the new iPhone OS as “amazing,” “wonderful,” and “delightful;” it will hardly pose any substantial threat to the escalating growth of the Google Android OS within the mobile market.

With “multitasking” being hyped as the flagship feature of the next-generation iPhone OS – Jobs claims that the multitasking interface of the iPhone OS 4.0 the “best” thus far -, the feature is already one of the main components of the Android.

That the introduction of the multitasking feature in the new iPhone OS will not threaten the market foothold of the Android is evident from the comparison that while Apple will essentially allow multitasking only within carefully-defined and restricted circumstances, Android largely tends to avoid such limitations.

Furthermore, the new iPhone’s unified mailbox too is already a key element of the Android OS; and the newly-introduced wallpaper and folder settings in the iPhone OS 4.0 are only a small fraction of the home screen personalization options provided on Android devices.
