It has appeared that a new internal computer system for its National Crisis Management Centre (NCMC) is being sought by the Ministry of Civil Defense and Emergency Management.
With this, the several systems currently used by the NCMC would be replaced.
Vince Cholewa, public information manager said: "We're looking for one system or package, rather than the plethora of different ones we are using at the moment." The system will be used by Civil Defense after an emergency, when the NCMC had been activated.
Cholewa believes that information from local authorities, emergency services, health care, and science organizations would be brought together via this application, apart from other government departments.
Furthermore, it will also be capable of dealing with mapping and work flow management tasks.
This information, which will finally lead to better decision making, could be stored and retrieved.
"The registration of interest process began today, with prospective vendors having until August 11 to respond, with the ministry expecting to sign the contract by November," said Cholewa.
