Apple’s new MacBook Pros boast faster graphics-intensive performance

Apple’s new MacBook Pros boast faster graphics-intensive performanceApple’s Tuesday-unveiled 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pros will likely deliver a notably faster graphics-intensive performance, while also enhancing battery life, as compared to the company’s earlier set of pro laptops – the reason behind the improved performance being the upgraded new graphics found throughout the lineup.

According to the information forwarded by Apple, the new 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pros feature the powerful Nvidia GeForce 320M processor – the earlier batch of 13-inch laptops featured the GeForce 9400M – comprising as many as 48 cores; thereby boasting a nearly 80 percent faster speed than the integrated graphics of the 13-inch counterparts.

Furthermore, the new MacBook Pro lineup will offer integrated as well as discrete graphics – while the models will use Intel HD integrated graphics for general-use applications, like iTunes, Mail, and Safari; they can also make an automatic switchover to the dedicated Nvidia GeForce GT330M graphics to deliver more horsepower required for certain tasks.

The automatic switching technology, developed by Apple, essentially looks for frameworks that individual apps need at launch; and thereafter executes a seamless switchover from energy-consuming integrated graphics to the higher-powered discrete graphics processor as required.

Furthermore, the new graphics in the 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pros also use 30 percent less energy than the earlier models; bringing about eight or nine hours of use from a single battery cycle. (IANS)
