The provincial Government of B. C. has announced that the regional hospitals will have to fight for financial aid by presenting the technique they prefer to adopt for better and quicker treatments for the patients at competitive costs.
This, according to Health officials, will help the largest funded hospitals of B. C. to raise the standard of the treatments. This decision of introducing new funding system is basically aimed at providing financial help to hospitals which can prove that they have more fast and cost-effective ways of treatment and health care. This award to be offered to the hospitals will also make sure that patients in the waiting list do not suffer much and get the required treatment on time. The hospitals will be granted incentives.
Also the system is a wise step that is doing away with merely the elevation of funding the hospitals and replacing the system with awarding the hospitals on basis of the efficiency. Another reason of opting for this system is that the earlier process of block funding resulted in lengthening waiting in the hospitals.
An extra sum from a new $250-million collection will also be given to the eligible hospitals over the next two years.
The new model is also termed as pay-for-performance will be permanently fixed into the $2-million-an-hour health system.
