The iPhone OS devices now boast print capabilities, thanks to the launch of version 1.2 of the popular PrintCentral app from EuroSmartz – a UK and News Zealand-based developer.
Essentially a Universal app, the upgraded PrintCentral version – which can be installed on iPhone and iPod Touch devices running iPhone OS version 3.1.3 or higher, and iPads running version 3.2 or higher – is available at the App Store for $10.
Among the most notable changes that the PrintCentral version 1.2 has incorporated is that the new app can take advantage of the Document Sharing feature of the iPhone OS 3.2. With the inclusion of the Document Sharing feature, PrintCentral has been registered as one of the apps that turn up in the “Open in...” pop-up which appears in compatible applications, like Mail.
Hence, the new PrintCentral version enables the users not only to receive a file by e-mail and instantly send it to PrintCentral either for printing or storage and transfer; but also to send a file to other iPad-specific applications, via the same mechanism.
Furthermore, the new version of the PrintCentral app is now capable of syncing documents both to and from a user’s computer via USB through the “Apps” tab in iTunes. The app also has the ability to open files from a WebDAV-based cloud storage service similar to Apple’s own iDisk directly in Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, without prior download.
