It has been reported that this afternoon, an 80-year-old man and a 5-year-old boy were airlifted to the hospital, after a head-on crash on the western shore of Lake Taupo.
According to, Inspector Ian Brooker, the 4.20pm crash on State Highway 41 had left serious injuries on the elderly man. The boy and his mother were found with mild to severe injuries.
It has been said that all the three of them were airlifted to Rotorua Hospital.
The traffic was sidetracked from a section of SH41 when the crash site was cleared, but one of the lanes had reopened this evening.
It had been reported by the police that the elderly man had died in the hospital. The boy and his mother were left with moderate to grave injuries.
