Sony has announced that HX803 is set to provide "outstanding customer value", and would be offering every PS3 owner a free 3D upgrade.
The company said that Sony 3D TVs will be available in the UK from June onwards. Bookings and orders are being taken now. Sony is also providing Blu-ray players, 3D movies and videogames.
The company has also highlighted that 3D televisions will be affordable, in spite of rumors that all prices will be around £2,000 across the major manufacturers.
Publicizing the launch, Sony stated, “the HX803 series 3D TV that will offer 3D cinematic capability with outstanding consumer value and will set the benchmark for stylish, technically advanced yet affordable 3D compatible TVs”.
The HX803 is said to feature “up-conversion”, which will make the 2D content appear to be 3D.
Even though it is not equivalent to 3D, Sony hopes that it will encourage people to spend in latest technology, as it will be able to perk up the present film and television program collection.
It is said that the TV will also come packaged with two 3D Blu-ray titles, ‘Deep Sea’ and ‘Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs’.
