New Migraine Drug to Help Patients

The drug has an added benefit of not constricting blood vessels and can also be used by patients who have heart related problems. Also, the drug does not produce any side effect like dizziness, chest and tightness of the throat and flushing.

This drug is being developed by Merck and may hit the market in the coming two to three years. The researchers working on the laboratory trials of the drug have termed it very promising during the initial tests. These findings have been published in the medical journal, Lancet.

Experts caution that more research is needed to prove these results. It may be noted that around 6 million patients are suffering from migraine disease. The illness seriously impacts the average life of a patient to lead a healthy life. A migraine attack can last from 4 to 72 hours.

It can offer a ray of hope to a lot of migraine patients. Many people suffering from migraine can also benefit from high doses of aspirin, according to medical experts.
