Child Convulsions Resulted From Fluvax Flu Vaccine, Health Ministry Halts AdministrationAfter various incidents of child convulsions, the doctors have been advised not to put popular flu vaccine Fluvax on the subscription to the preschoolers.

The Health Ministry has urged the doctors not to recommend fluvax after convulsions were faced in Australia and New Zealand among children aged below five. The move has been taken to prevent any further issues among the children and their health and safety is Health Ministry's top priority.

Child and Youth Health Chief Advisor Pat Tuohy said, "There isn't a lot of information at this stage, but as a sensible precaution we recommend that providers avoid giving Fluvax to children less than five years old until there have been further investigations".

The number of does utilized by doctors in New Zealand amount to 265,000 and other vaccination drugs which have been used are Influvac and Vaxigrip. A sharp drop in supply of fluvax was seen in New Zealand after Easter due to the rising demand.

The Health Ministry is recommending the use of Vaxigrip instead of any other vaccination drugs as it has shown very little signs of any unwanted reaction.

The people are being urged to monitor their children after the vaccination to check out for any adverse effect. Fever could be the outcome of the vaccinations but it does not pose big threat to the health.
