Men afflicted with premature ejaculation can pin their hopes on a new drug called, Priligy. This the first drug of its kind to prescribed for premature ejaculation.
The drug is slated to be marketed in the United Kingdom on Tuesday, April 27, 2010.
The medication, which is serotonin reuptake inhibitor, Dapoxetine, will be sold under the brand name Priligy. This news was announced on Monday, April 26, 2010.
The drug has undergone testing in various European countries like Finland, Sweden, Portugal, Austria and Germany.
It is reported that Dapoxetine is at the stage 3 of testing in the United States. It is waiting for approval by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration testing process.
The medication is priced at $116 for three Priligy 30 milligram pills.
The marketing campaign of the drug claims that it can be used by men between 18-64 years of age.
A study conducted to analyze the efficacy of the drug, carried out on 2,600 men revealed that with the drug, the duration on intercourse increased from 3-5 times as long.
There was also an analogous study carried out at the University of Minnesota, which evinced that the duration of sex increased from one minute to three and a half minutes.
