Koala Forest Struck by Aboriginal ban

Koala Forest Struck by Aboriginal banIt has been reported that for the second time a contentious logging operation in the Mumbulla State Forest, on the New South Wales Far South Coast, has been perched.

The traditional owners, who protected the forest, have been congratulated by Greens MP and spokesperson for South East NSW, Lee Rhiannon and have called on Environment Minister Frank Sartor to stop logging areas in two contiguous sections, where koala surroundings is still at threat.

After it was revealed that segments of the logging region are fraction of an Indigenous Protection Zone, Forests New South Wales said that an investigation is in progress.

According to Conservationists, the logging will devastate a koala colony, and it was also perched in March 2010, after a 24 year old piece of proof demonstrating past koala doings was discovered.

The Convenor of the anti-logging group Chipbusters, Noel Plumb, stated, "This puts the spotlight back on the minister for the Environment, Frank Sartor, to get his department to stand up to State Forests and do the job that should've been done months ago".

Ecologists have criticized Forests New South Wales for the researches taken on before the logging took place. Although, the department says that the work was wide-ranging.
