From the new researches in Canada it was seen that if the women takes vitamin D and calcium in her diet it does not affect their risk of breast cancer. If vitamin D in taken in supplement form, it could protect the women from this disease.
It was told by Laura N. Anderson, one of the study's authors and a doctoral student at Cancer Care Ontario in Toronto they more research was needed in that area.
According to some studies it was seen that vitamin D could reduce risk of breast cancer. It was informed by Anderson that breast cells had receptors for vitamin D which elevated the chance of the propagation of these cells.
She also said that vitamin D was essential for calcium absorption and the women who want to keep their bones tough should take both as the age increases. Milk is also enriched with vitamin in D.
A survey was done by Anderson and her team to separate out the effects of vitamin D and calcium on breast cancer risk.
It was reported by a women that taking 400 international units of vitamin D every day the breast cancer risk decreased by 24%.
In the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition the findings can be seen.
