It has been reported that Symantec, the known maker of security software has given its consent to buy PGP Corporation and GuardianEdge for approximately $370 million and it has gained the technology which would protect the data and the e-mails.
Symantec, based in Mountain View will be paying around $300 million for acquiring PGP, which is based in Menlo Park and another $70 million for San Francisco based GuardianEdge Technologies. The info ration was released through the statement.
The aim of the deal is to boost Symantec's ability to provide better protection to its corporate customers and common consumer through various techniques like data encryption. So far, GuardianEdge's has made a mark with its technology being used by .S. Department of Defense and Lockheed Martin and on the other hand, PGP has more than 110,000 corporate and government customers in its clientele.
Francis deSouza, Senior Vice President of Symantec's Enterprise Security Group said, "With these acquisitions we can further protect information by using encryption in an intelligent and policy-driven way to give the right users access to the right information, enabling the trust that individuals and organizations need to operate confidently in an information-driven world”.
