It has been reported that Louisiana has declared a state of emergency following reports that oil from the Gulf rig Deepwater Horizon has reached the mouth of Mississippi.
The U. S. Coastguard is undertaking an investigation to determine reports that the oil has begun washing ashore near the mouth of the Mississippi river.
The Coastguard revealed yesterday that nearly 5,000 barrels were leaking into the sea daily. This is a five times more magnified figure compared to what was estimated earlier.
The Assistant Chief at the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration declares that he is worried about the state of the country.
The state of Louisiana has announced a state of emergency. The White House also stated that President Barack Obama, and the Joint Chiefs of Staff were being provided information from time to time.
President Obama had stated that British Petroleum was to be held responsible for the oil spill.
A spokesman affirmed today morning that the U. S. National Coastguard had obtained reports that oil had started to wash ashore. The reports were being investigated and by the Coastguard and BP and an announcement about the same would be made today.
