Amazon.com Announces Kindle UpdateAmazon. com has announced that it will soon be releasing an upcoming software update. This update will facilitate sharing passages from e-books through Twitter and Facebook, for Kindle Users.

The software will also furnish other features such as the ability to display text messages, which has been greatly commended by the Kindle community.

These updates stand testament to the fact that Amazon is perhaps making attempts to ensure that its e-reader transcends the label of just being a simple display device. The idea is to make the e-reader compete better against its rivals such as Barnes & Noble's Nook and also Apple's iPad tablet PC

It is reported that Amazon. com intends to launch its software update for Kindle and Kindle DX e-readers, termed Version 2.5, by ending May.

It was also stated that the update will at first be available only to limited number of Kindle users. It will be made available to others later.

It is also notable that the announcement by Amazon. com comes at the heels of rival Barnes & Noble's unveiling of its software update for its own Nook e-reader, complete with Android-based games of Sudoku and chess.
